Join "Girl Talk" at the Police Athletic League (PAL)! PAL’s “Girl Talk” is a program designed to help young women ages 11 – 17 develop new friendships, provide volunteer service, and participate in leadership activities, social etiquette, and educational workshops. The program is looking for skilled, professional women to volunteer for one Thursday evening per month to speak about their careers, individual talents, and lead discussion groups on various topics that affect young women today. Mentors Wanted! Become a positive role model to Bronx youth! Help young men and women develop positive social skills, set personal goals, and plan for their academic and professional futures. Leake and Watts Services, Inc. is currently seeking adult volunteers to mentor youth participating in various Leake and Watts programs. Mentors will meet one-on-one with mentees and assist in providing support, insight, and direction on a variety of topics. Learn more and apply here.
Scholarship Opportunities for NYC Seniors! 100 Mile Man Scholarship Fund The Fund and the 100 Mile Man Foundation are pleased to invite applicants for the 100 Mile Man Scholarship Fund, which will award college scholarships to outstanding public high school seniors accepted to a City University of New York four-year college. The scholarship fund was established in 2010 by Jesse Itzler to encourage low-income, deserving students in New York City to attain a college degree by providing financial support. Recipients will receive $2,000 per semester for the four years (up to 8 semesters) they are enrolled in a CUNY four-year college. Access the application here. Application Deadline: June 8, 2012
The Pearl and David Glaubman Memorial Scholarship (Big 10 University Scholarship) was established by Beth L. Kaufman in memory of her parents, Pearl and David Glaubman. The memorial fund will award a college scholarship to an outstanding Queens public high school senior who will attend a Big 10 University in Fall 2012. Celebrate Spring with a School Garden Grant! Grow to Learn NYC is accepting applications for mini-grants of $500 to $2,000 to start or enhance a learning garden program at New York City public and charter schools. To apply, schools must register the garden and submit the mini-grant application at www.growtolearn.org by May 1, 2012. Need help with the application?
