PS Architecture 2008: Through the Lens of a Student Photographer

PS Architecture 2008 is the New York City Department of Education’s first-ever citywide architectural photography competition that was open to New York City public school students from pre-K through twelfth grade. Almost 500 students submitted architectural photographs of their schools and a jury selected 20 winners in three categories:

The contest was judged by: Nelson Bakerman, architectural photographer; Michael Bierut, Pentagram Design; Michele Cohen, DOE’s Public Art for Public Schools; Tim Hayduk, Center for Architecture Foundation; Martin Pedersen, Metropolis magazine; Stan Ries, architectural photographer; Ann Rolland, FXFOWLE Architects; and Maria Bonilla and Barbara Rudnick art teachers in NYC public schools.

The opening of the exhibition on October 17, 2008, was hosted by The Center for Architecture Foundation with support from FXFOWLE Architects, LLP, National Reprographics, and Pentagram Design.
