Online Professional Development

Virtual Campus, eCatalog, and the Virtual Meeting Spaces

There is a great disparity in the professional development needs and modes of delivery amongst individual schools within the DOE. Schools are not only challenged with finding professional development services that can be applied to their specific instructional settings, but are also challenged with time and location constraints. The Department of eLearning Services will work collaboratively with the departments within Teaching and Learning and leading industry core curriculum vendors to convert current workshop offerings into online courses that allow participants to learn at their own pace, in a variety of modes best suited to personal learning styles, at a remote location, at any time.

Virtual Campus serves as our interim Learning Management System that will help transition the city school system from traditional modes of professional development to an online model.

The eCatalog is a one stop shop for professional development offerings with catalog listings and built in registration for all courses: online, traditional, and blended.  This is your starting point to taking a course in Virtual Campus.

Virtual Meeting Space is our Webex account with phone bridge that provides a virtual room for 25 workshop participants.  Because users don't have to fiddle with headsets, more of our time is spent focusing on the topic and not on the technology.
