HOMEWORK POLICY

Homework is a three way partnership:

·          The teacher will provide a quality assignment each night

·          The student will complete all assignments neatly and submit the homework on a daily basis to each respective teacher

·          The parent/guardian will monitor and encourage completion of all homework assignments/projects

·          Call the school immediately if your child frequently tells you there is no homework (there is homework every night)

·          Write a note if your child is struggling with an assignment or you have an emergency that prevents homework from getting done

AGENDA BOOK

Each student was issued an agenda book on the first day of school.

A Student’s Responsibility:

·          To make sure that all assignments are written in your agenda before leaving at the end of the day

·          To write all directions carefully so that assignments are completed correctly

·          To use the agenda while doing your homework

·          To check off each item as it is completed

·          To add upcoming events, due dates and assignments, test dates, and other important personal dates to your monthly calendar

A Parent’s Responsibility:

·          To make sure that all assignments are clearly written each night

·          To check that all parts of the assignments are completed

·          To look for, and respond to, teacher comments

·          To feel free to add comments or questions to the Teacher

We have an open door policy – you never need an appointment to come in to see us.

DISCIPLINE CODE

The NYC Department of Education has established Citywide Standards of Disciplinary and Intervention Measures (The Discipline Code)

The Discipline Code provides comprehensive guidelines for determining unacceptable behaviors.  In providing a range of permissible disciplinary measures, the Code ensures both consistency and equitable treatment for all students and enables principals and superintendents to exercise discretion and educational judgment.

The standards set forth in the Discipline Code apply to behavior in school during the school hours, before and after school, while on school property, while traveling on vehicles funded by the Board of Education, at all school-sponsored events and on other-than-school property when such behavior can be demonstrated to endanger the health, safety, morals, or welfare of the school community.

All students and parents will receive a copy of The Discipline Code.  Additional copies can be obtained at http://schools.nyc.gov/
