(Previous Edition) Parent Newsletter - December 2011

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In this season of joy let us wish you all:
December 21 - Happy Chanukah; December 25 - Merry Christmas; December 26 - Happy Kwanza; and January 1 - Happy New Year!

Thank you for attending the Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 15, 2011, the report cards were given out at these meetings. If you have not met with our child's teacher yet, please call and make an appointment. Once reviewed by you, all report cards must be returned to you child's teacher. Please continue to follow our school safety policy. Parents/Guardians are not permitted in the school without photo identification. No parents are permitted to the main office before 8:30am for security purposes.

We have many students arriving late to school on a daily basis. These lateness's causes many students to miss their reading period. These same students are not doing well on the interim assessments that are given, due to the missed instruction. Department of Education policy for promotion states that all students must have a minimum of 90% attendance to be promoted. School begins at 8:10am for students in grades K-5.

We are having great difficulty clearing students from the yard at dismissal. Some of you call the school after 4:00pm asking if your child is playing in the yard. Unfortunately, for you, school personnel does not monitor the yard after the official dismissal time. At 3:30pm each day, the playground becomes a community playground and is not monitored by school personnel. As parents/guardians, you must instruct your children to come straight home after school.

Lunch money is due each Monday either in cash or money order.

WISHING YOU AND YOURS A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY SEASON.
