At PS/MS 105, the middle school students are chosen to participate in an after school physical education program. This program has been run by Mr. Long and assisted by Mr. Stavola and Mr. Goggin.
The program consists of a number of different activities for the students to participate in. Each activity resembles a major athletic sport. Some of the activities are Polly-Spot Basketball, Nine-Base Kickball, Knockout, Sharkball, Scooter handball, and a big student favorite, Ga-Ga.
The students are first taught the game and run a few examples. In some of the games, the students are then assembled into groups (each team is usually run by one of the teachers and the third teacher is a referee) and play against each other.
The program runs from 3:10 until 4:10 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The class size average is about 40 students.
The students have a great time, learn the mechanics of the sport and get a good amount of exercise in the process.
