Music Description:

Music Appreciation U1&2(Required Course) - Students will have an introduction to music and its role in society and history. Through varied music projects, Students will understand standards of quality in performance and composition and become lifelong learners of music. Application of concepts and skills learned through class exercises and projects.

Band UDC1&2 (CC) -Students will learn and practice and master a repertoire of instrumental pieces. Students will participate in school-wide Performances. Students can elect to continue in band for a three year sequence.

Piano Lab UBP1&2 -Students learn how to read music and play piano as well as the introduction to music and its role in society and history. Students will have the opportunity to play in concert if they are interested. Students can elect to continue in piano lab or join band. (Meets the music appreciation requirement)

 

Introduction to Instrumental Students learn how to read and play an instrument, and study music's role in society and history. Students will have the opportunity to play in concert if they are interested. Students can elect to continue in instrumental or move up to band. (Meets the music appreciation requirement)

Chorus UVC Students will learn how to sing in a chorus. They will learn to read music and basic music theory. This class culminates in an end of year performance. (Meets the music appreciation requirement)

 

Dance (Physical Education Departments) Introduction to Dance includes basic steps, exercises and theory. The history and cultural aspects of dance are covered. Students have the opportunity to perform in several shows and learn how to choreography. This class counts as a credit toward the Physical Education requirement.
