September, 2011
Dear Parents,
Welcome back! I hope you had a restful, relaxing summer.
This school year is going to be an outstanding one for the students, parents, and teachers at Public School 26!
Ms. Gersten, the art teacher, will work with our students on a rotating basis, beginning September 13th.
Once again, thanks to the P.T.A., our fifth grade students will have the opportunity to work with an instructor from Dancing Classrooms.
Student of the Month will continue with new categories. The first book of the month is The 7 Habits of Happy Kids, by Sean Covey. The new categories were developed from the ideas in this book.
Mrs. Patrizi, our gym teacher, will lead two gym nights this year. It is always a great evening for our students, parents, and teachers.
Mrs. Kapica, our student government advisor, is planning a special assembly for the third, fourth, and fifth grade students. The president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary of P.S. 26 will be installed at the assembly program, by Council Member Mark Weprin.
A Science Fair will take place under the guidance of our science teachers, Ms. Wilson and Mrs. Gould.
Dr. Koski and I are planning workshops for the parents, which will focus on the new CCLS.
Many other exciting events will take place throughout the year!
Please get involved!
Attend monthly P.T.A. meetings. Your ideas are very important.
Join your child on a class trip. It is a wonderful way to spend some time with your son or daughter.
Volunteer to work with the P.T.A. at Photo Day, the Book Fair, the Special Persons’ Day sale, etc. Your child will be thrilled to see you there.
If you are a fifth grade parent, consider working on the fifth grade committee. There are many different ways to get involved and various jobs to do.
Remember: TEAM 26
Together Everyone Achieves More
Sincerely,
Mrs. Debra Gershman
