Learning at Home

    Dear Parents and Students,

We are facing difficult and unusual times right now with some schools closing for a week.  We recognize that a break in school may be a challenge for students and parents. Even though school is closed, however, we suggest that students who are healthy use this time to continue learning.

To help students stay on track, the NYC Department of Education has developed Learn at Home instructional activities for students in Grades K-8. These resources provide suggested daily study schedules, activities, and educational television shows and Web sites for one week of continued at-home learning. While not mandatory, we encourage students to use these guides and document their learning.

Beginning today, the Learn at Home instructional activity guides can be found online at http://schools.nyc.gov/learnathome.

If you are unable to access these guides through the Web or would prefer to pick up a copy, the DOE has arranged for distribution of these guides beginning Tuesday, May 19 at the following locations:

    ·         Brooklyn: 131 Livingston Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201

    §        Brooklyn: 5619 Flatlands Avenue – Room 110

    ·         Queens: 30-48 Linden Place, Queens, NY 11354; 28-11 Queens Plaza North, Long Island City, NY 11101; or 90-27 Sutphin Boulevard, Jamaica, NY 11435

§        Manhattan: 333 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY  10001

    §        Staten Island: CSD 31, 715 Ocean Terrace – Room 305A

    §        Bronx: One Fordham Plaza

    §        Bronx: 1230 Zerega Avenue

Of course, if you are the parent of a sick child, your first priority should be helping him or her recover. We’ll help you to make up lost work when school reopens.
