A Parent Workshop on Common Core Learning Standards was given on Tuesday, January 24th and was presented by Ms. Nelson. Below please find the attachment of her powerpoint presentation.

CCLS for Parents

·        A reminder the school day begins at 8:00 AM daily.  Instruction begins at this time. In preparation for the citywide testing we are now reading for 25 minutes to build stamina from 8:00-8:25.  If your child is late they are missing out on valuable test preparation.

·        Just a reminder every Friday is “Spirit Friday” please have your child dressed in a 236 shirt. 

·        TASKS in both Mathematics and English Language Arts in grades Kindergarten through 5 have been completed.  Many parents attended the workshop on CORE and TASK on January 24.  The power point presentation is on the PS 236 website.  As we approach testing, parent workshop will be available.   The best preparation for the Spring test is to have your child read!

·        In preparation for citywide testing we have established small group instruction during the day for grades 3-5.  This will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:30 until 2:57.

·        If a parent has a concern they need to discuss with me, please call the main office for an appointment.  I will respond to all requests within 48 hours, unless something unforeseen happens or I am not at PS 236 (meeting, or illness).

·        School will be closed February 20 through February 26, for a winter break.  Enjoy!
