Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to another eventful year at I.S. 281. Our school website is an excellent tool to communicate with the households of our students. Please continue to check it on a regular basis for school news and announcements.
Our Senior Class is a wonderful group and we truly want to make this a year to remember! It is hard to believe that our children have entered their third year at Cavallaro. On our way to June graduation, it is my goal to schedule a variety of events that celebrate the efforts of your child inside our building and beyond.
High School Application Process -
In June of 2009, High School Directories were distributed to students. H.S. Applications will be distributed to students in October. We are committed to making sure that students and parents are fully informed regarding the H.S. application process. Save the date: HS Information Night, Tues. Oct. 20th!!! (see info below). Also, dates for the City-Wide High School Fairs will be posted on this site. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Schussler or Ms. Weiner in our Guidance Office (718-996-8080) to assist you.
Senior Days – Throughout the school year several days will be dedicated to our Senior Class. Please note that prior to any Senior Day a flyer or letter will be sent home to parents detailing the guidelines of acceptable practices for that day. Senior Jersey Day was great. We're sure that Crazy/Hat Day will be so much fun!
Senior Demerit System – At the beginning of the school year, an assembly will be held to review our Senior Demerit System and Code of Conduct with the students. A letter outlining this policy will be sent home to parents for review. A copy of this letter can also be viewed here and below. If you have any questions regarding the Demerit System, please feel free to contact Mr. Hall at (718) 996-6706 ext. 2262.
Senior Dues – At the beginning of the school year an information packet will be sent home with your child regarding the payment of Senior Dues. Each student who pays senior dues will receive their cap, gown and tassel for our graduation ceremony, a hardcopy of our senior yearbook, a DVD yearbook, senior class t-shirt and polo shirt, free admission to school dances and a host of other senior activities. Senior dues are $95 and can be paid in twenty dollar increments. Please pay with a check or money order. A copy of our Senior Dues Letter can be accessed here and below.
We are all excited about the 2009-2010 school year. Let’s work together to make the Class of 2010 the best one yet!
If you ever you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at (718) 996-6706 Extension 2261.
Sincerely,
Mr. M. Hayden
