Media
Cavallaro’s Television Studio is the only professional facility in the New York City Department of Education directed and operated by Cavallaro students. They will gain the knowledge and skills to develop into a highly trained TV production team while operating the studio for projects and productions including news shows.

Dance
The students are developing their dance literacy through the study of Labanotation, the universal Language of Dance! Students expand their dance vocabulary of words and symbols to further refine their communication of ideas, emotions, and themes in dance. Cavallaro dance students are learning the art of dance making through developing their dance technique, improvising, choreographing, and performing. Dance students also make connections in dance. This is accomplished through the study of dance history and the understanding of the social and cultural significance of dance.

Art
This class will lay the foundation for art appreciation, art history, and art criticism as well as help students develop their technical skills as an artist. Students will also visit [in cyberspace] a number of world class museums' websites and utilize their high resolution images of exemplary works and view both films (and DVDs). Additionally, students will explore several art making disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and printmaking, as well as experience a variety of assorted art media.

Music
At Cavallaro, we have both an instrumental and a vocal music program. The instrumental program teaches students a variety of music from classical to rock. Students are required to take their instruments home to practice and their talents are showcased in several performances that are open to the public throughout the year. The vocal music program allows students to express themselves through singing. Students will learn proper vocal techniques and will be given the chance to sing along with their peers in a chorus as well as show off their own personal talents through solos.
