Special Programs

The Arts at PS 199 — The arts are a unique form of knowledge and expression that nurtures a range of intelligences and creativity.  PS 199 uses New York City’s Blueprint for the Arts as the foundation of its program.  All students receive instruction in music and art from licensed teachers who are themselves trained musicians and artists.  We have a band and chorus for 4th and 5th grade students, as well as a keyboard program for Early Childhood grades.  Students are also exposed to musical theater, dance and drama during the school day, through our after school programs, and through our partnerships with arts organizations.

After School Programs — PS 199 offers several academic after school programs to help students prepare for New York State assessments.  After School Arts and Enrichment Programs include clubs in Art, Band, Musical Theater, Photography, Yearbook and Odyssey of the Mind (a creative problem-solving program).
