CHEERLEADING :  We are proud to announce our Cheerleading Team took first place at the 2009 Metrocheer Cheerfest 2009 which took place Sunday, March 29th, in Bayonne, New Jersey.  Congratulations to the coaches, Jennifer Sorenson and Kerri Caputo and the girls on their hard work and dedication!

COLLEGE OFFICE:  Our annual College Fair was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in the Girls’ Gymnasium.  We extend our thanks to everyone who helped make this event such a huge success.  Over 60 representatives from a variety of colleges, universities, business schools and the armed forces were present, affording our juniors, who were invited to attend the fair, an opportunity to obtain valuable information. 

JROTCOn Tuesday, March 24th, Mrs. Chester rewarded the Tiger Battalion for their outstanding accomplishment during their Formal Inspection.  The reward was in the form of breakfast which included bagels, muffins, sweets, assorted juices and beverages.  A beautiful cake inscribed with “Congratulations Tigers” was cut by Mrs. Chester and the Cadet Battalion Commander and served to all.  Mr. Thomas Oberle also joined in the celebration.  The Cadets were very pleased that the Administration acknowledged their hard work and success.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONOn Friday evening, March 20th, Senior Night took place in the Girls’ Gymnasium.  This highly anticipated event was attended by over 350 students. The theme of the evening was “Casablanca” and the gym was transformed to resemble the 1920’s.  Mr. Rose, COSA, and Ms. Whalen, Senior Advisor, would like to thank Mrs. Chester, Principal, and Mr. Vallas, PTA President, as well as the following faculty members who attended:  Mr. Alvear, Ms. Bolasis, Ms. Cagliostro, Ms. Ferarra, Mr. Holke, Ms. Jackson, Ms. LaMacchia, Mr. Lee, Ms. O’Leary, Mr. Rivera and Ms. Russo.   

SWIM TEAM:  On Tuesday, March 31st, the Boys’ Swim Team was acknowledged by Mrs. Chester at a breakfast in their honor, in recognition of their recent victory over Stuyvesant High School at the PSAL finals.  Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz was on hand to personally congratulate team members and arrived with photographers to document the occasion.  Many thanks to Coach Dave Richards and the entire team for their dedication and hard work.  Go Tigers!

 

VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE:  Congratulations to The Printing Depot for being one of the seven finalist teams in the National Competition for Virtual Enterprise International.  This is the fifth year in a row The Printing Depot has made it to the National Competition as a finalist!  Kudos  to Mary Grace Alfredo and team members. Also, we would like to congratulate The Printing Depot and Bon Voyage Travel for a very successful trade fair!
