Science with Tina Aprea-Reres and Abe Ammary

PS 29 employs an inquiry-based science program that uses hands-on activities, interdisciplinary projects, multi-sensory observation and collaborative learning groups.  The science curriculum supports the National Science Content Standards in Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science, as well as scientific reasoning and technology.

Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st and 2nd grade students receive science instruction from Tina Aprea-Reres.  Students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 attend science classes taught by Abe Ammary.

In recent years, Grades 3-5 students participate in a science fair or science share.  In March -- known as "the March of Science" -- a number of science activities are held, including Super Science Saturday - a full day of fun, hands-on science activities held at PS 29.

Science at PS 29 is further enriched by our Food and Farming Initiative, which includes experiential work with our edible garden.  This year, we are thrilled to have Emily Freund with us as our Food and Farming Coordinator.  This was made possible by the generous support of the VISTA Americorps Program and the PS 29 PTA.
