Our Community

Central Park East II is a small option school in Community School District Four, East Harlem. Our school became part of the Empowerment Zone for the 2006/07 school year and continues this affiliation in 2007/08. We have one Pre-Kindergarten class and 9 bridge classes, serving kindergarten through fifth graders. Our staff includes eleven classroom teachers, as well as a licensed librarian and specialists in music, the visual arts teacher, reading, science and math. We also provide mandated services including SETSS (Special Education Teacher Support Services), counseling, speech, and occupational therapy.

CPE II attracts students from several districts and boroughs. Most of our over 200 students come from all parts of Harlem, the many other communities of Upper Manhattan and The Bronx. As an option school, CPE II is committed to maintaining a racially, economically and ethnically diverse school population.
