Annual Late Summer Registration Effort for New or Re-entering Students Runs from August 25 - September 12
The New York City Department of Education today announced that it will open 13 temporary student registration centers on Monday, August 25, to enroll new students for the opening of school. All new high school students or those re-entering the system after an absence – both general education and special education – and all new or re-entering general education elementary and middle school students without a zoned school should register at a center in their borough of residence. New elementary and middle school students who have a zoned school can register at their zoned school starting Tuesday, September 2. Parents can find their child’s zoned school by calling 311 or visiting the Department of Education’s Web site at www.nyc.gov/schools.
New special education students in elementary or middle school who require collaborative team teaching, District 75, or special class placement should visit their Borough Enrollment/Committee on Special Education offices to register. Parents can find the nearest office location by calling 311 or by visiting www.nyc.gov/schools/enrollment.
Enrollment staff at the student registration centers will meet with students and their parents to facilitate registration. Interpretation services will be available at each center. All forms and parent materials will be available in English and translated into eight languages (Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu).
The student registration centers will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday, September 12. The centers will be closed Monday, September 1 (Labor Day). The locations are listed below.
