Workshop # I: School-Based Occupational and Physical Therapy: An Educationally Integrated Approach by Laurie Ray, PT and Lauren Holahan, OTR/L Over 350 therapists, supervisors and ISC staff attended the workshop held on October 16 and 17, 2008. Laurie and Lauren discussed the difference between the educational and clinical models of service delivery; the concept of Least Restrictive Environment and researches that support it, and; techniques for collaborative, embedded intervention. Click here for the workshop handout.
Laurie and Lauren also introduced "Energizers", which are movement activities created by the North Carolina Department of Public Education that can be utilized by teachers for their whole class. "Energizers" integrates physical activities with academic concepts for students from Kindergarten to Middle School. Click here to connect to the "Energizers" website. Share the brochures with your school colleagues!
ASBT Presents...The Hands-On Experts Series - 2008-2009 The ASBT workshops run from November through May. Therapists will be notified of the date and location of the workshop via DOE email approximately 1 to 2 weeks prior to the workshop they have been assigned to. Due to the high volume of responses received, the ASBT contact persons cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of therapists’ registration. Unfortunately, we would also be unable to accommodate all requests to sign-up for the workshops. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
