District 75 provides interpreting services to its students. The Office of Sign Language Interpreting Services (OSLIS) provides sign language interpreting services for all Board of Education non-classroom activities. A staff of 19 nationally certified interpreters provide more than 1200 hours a month of interpreting services to staff , students and parents who are deaf.
Settings can include CSE/HHVI reviews, parent-teacher meetings, impartial hearings, staff development and graduations.
In 2003 OIS was awarded a five-year grant from New York State Education Department to establish a computer lab and provide professional development for Department of Education (DOE) interpreters.
