Dear Parents/Guardians,

February is a short month but we have really packed in the excitement this month!  No Name Calling Week was such a success that we will continue to celebrate this event during the month of February.  We will also celebrate the 100th Day of School this month.  A family event, to celebrate the 100th day of school, is being planned for early March.  Information will be sent home shortly.

Our fourth and fifth grade students are busy working on their science fair projects!  They were also trained as ‘Little Doctors’ and will be promoting and assisting at our Blood Drive on February 11, 2010.  If you would like to donate, please sign up or stop by our Conference Center on February 11, 2010.  Fourth grade parents are invited to watch their children present their Black History Month Stamp Projects on February 10, 2010 at 8:00AM.

Attention Kindergarten Parents…Literacy Coach, Lisa Hagis, will be hosting a parent workshop on February 10, 2010 at 8:00AM.  She will focus on strategies to help your child become a better reader.

First grade parents are invited to a Holiday Workshop on Friday, February 12 at 12:00PM.

Report cards will be distributed to students in grades K-5 on Tuesday, February 23, 2010.  Parent teacher conferences will be on February 25, 2010.  February 25 is also a half day of school for students in grades K-12.  Dismissal will be at 11:20AM and the PAL After-school Center will be closed.

A few reminders…

Friday, February 5, 2010 –        Pajama Day to benefit Haiti

Thursday, February 11, 2010 – The Petrides Olympic Opening Ceremony –

Wear a color that represents your country

Friday, February 25, 2010 –       PBIS Assembly

                                                   Wear assembly or white shirt

We have been studying the Olympics over the past month.  Our students have learned a lot about their assigned country and have spent time learning about the history of the Olympic Games.  I encourage you to spend the time off (February 15-February 19) watching and reading about the Vancouver Olympics with your child.  It will be time for you and your child to bond and give your child lots to share when he/she returns to school on February 22, 2010.

 Kind Regards,

Allison O’Donnell
