Program Description

The Manhattan School for Career Development is operated as a Special Education program under the auspices of the District 75, Citywide Programs.  The school offers its students a unique opportunity to develop specific work skills, appropriate work habits and critical thinking abilities As a secondary school program for non-diploma bound learning disabled students, its mission is to implement a service delivery model that will facilitate employment for its targeted population.  Toward this end, it has structured a four stage, career training sequence that systematically increases  students’ worksite time .  The final phase is the Manhattan Transition Center which offers intensive vocational training as well as assistance with adult agency contact.

We provide work experience and transition opportunities in cooperation with various agencies and community-based organizations, such as VESID, AHRC, GMHC, Teachers College, FEDCAP, VA Hospital, Citywide, Jewish Home for the Aged, 369th National Guard Armory, 69th Armory, NYU, Bellevue Hospital, Goodwill, Baruch College,  Hunter College and The International Center for the Disabled.
