Schools that review the DOE-provided Periodic Assessment portfolio and decide the available options do not meet their needs may apply to design their own Periodic Assessments. Schools may also apply to renew an existing Design Your Own Assessment program.

DYO Spring Symposium
The DYO Spring Symposium is for schools who participated in the DYO option in the 2008-09 school year. The Symposium will be held on May 12, 2009. Principals and key contacts of schools who participated in the Design Your Own option should have received an email invitation to send 1-2 representatives. DYO Application Process and Materials
Completed Design Your Own applications and School/Cohort Information Templates should be submitted in one email to dyo@schools.nyc.gov by the following deadlines:
Early Decision: May 21, 2009
Final Deadline: June 5, 2009
Those applying for the early decision deadline will be notified of their application status earlier and have more time to revise and resubmit their application should revisions be required. Please email
