Students

Jonathon Nuwesra, Social Studies Teacher, Bayside High School

I want to thank Mr. Nuwesra for giving me a second chance. I was a very lazy student and never saw the consequences of my actions. Sophomore year I was failing almost all of my classes and I’m a student athlete so in order for me to stay on my team I needed to keep my grades up. I needed to pass his class.

Mr. Nuwesra was highly concerned about my grades, more so than I was. He cared so much that he sat me down and explained to me what would happen if I followed down this path. He showed me what I needed to do to pass, and that was passing my midterm. So I studied and I did just that. It only boosted my class average to a 65 but I still passed and I was able to play for my spring season. I made the All-Queens team that season. That would have never happened if it weren’t for him. The next three marking periods I pulled 90s and 80s in that class. Mr. Nuwesra saved me and I thank him for it everyday.
