Dear Parents:

Welcome Back!  I hope you enjoyed the summer vacation.

Congratulations to Ms. Gersten on her retirement.  We will miss her.

Congratulations to Mrs. Diminich on the birth of her daughter.

It is my pleasure to welcome Mr. Sullivan to our staff.  He will be the 5th grade Special Education teacher in the CTT class.

At this time, I would like to share some suggestions for how you can help your child succeed in school:

Ø   Provide school supplies and a place to study.

Ø   Help set academic goals.

Ø   Insist on daily attendance.

Ø   Attend all parent programs

Ø   Participate in parent-teacher groups.

Ø   Use reward and consequences to encourage change.

Ø   Encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Ø   Help improve organizational skills.

Ø   Monitor homework.

Ø   Encourage independent problem solving.

Ø   Promote active learning.

I am looking forward to another successful year at PS 26.  The 26 family will work hard to insure “Success for All”.

September 21st – Parent Orientation – Grade 5

September 22nd – Parent Orientation – Grade 4

September 23rd – Parent Orientation – Grade 3

September 24th – Parent Orientation – Grade 2

September 25th – Parent Orientation – Grade 1

September 28th – School is closed – Yom Kippur

November 3rd – Election Day – School is closed

November 10th – Parent – Teacher Conferences – Students will be dismissed at 11:40

                  Conferences are scheduled –

                  12:40 – 2:40 – Afternoon Conferences

                  6:00 – 8:30 – Evening conferences

November 11th – Veterans Day – School is closed

November 16th – 20th – Open School Week

November 26th, 27th  - Thanksgiving Recess

December 24th – January 1st – Winter Recess

I am looking forward to seeing you and working with you and your children.  My office door is open and I am usually available from 7:15 am on.
