FLOOR HOCKEY
A record number of schools, 44, participated in this winter’s CHAMPS Floor Hockey. Outstanding coaching took place throughout the city and programs held friendly games on a regular basis. The winter season ended with an event at I.S. 77, in Queens, where 11 schools attended a round robin tournament, which included an instructional clinic provided by the New York Rangers Hockey Club and Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation.

FLAG RUGBY
About 400 students attended two Flag Rugby events held at Sheepshead Bay HS, in Brooklyn, on March 6; and at Mott Haven Campus, in the Bronx, on March 7. The events were possible thanks to the support of Play Rugby USA and Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation. CHAMPS Flag Rugby has grown from 12 to 52 programs over the past four years.

TABLE TENNIS
Twenty-two CHAMPS table tennis players met at P.S. 126, in Manhattan, on January 29 to play against two of the best players in the world: Sydney Christophe, former Caribbean Champion, and Muhammad “Peeru” Pirzada, former Junior Pakistan Team Member and professional U.K. player. Students represented M.S./H.S. 292 (Manhattan), J.H.S. 234 (Brooklyn), and P.S. 212 (Bronx). The event was sponsored by Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation and the American Youth Table Tennis Organization.
