Contracts for Excellence

Public Comment

We will take public feedback into account as we continue to develop a citywide Contracts for Excellence plan. Please let us know what you think.

The deadline for public comment is August 23, 2008 (30 days from the date that the comprehensive 2008-09 proposed plan was posted to the Department's website). New York City, as well as other districts in New York State, are working with SED to develop timelines for formal submission of 2008-09 Contracts that enable full compliance with public process regulations and allow time for revisions to be made based on public feedback.

The public may comment on any aspect of the plan, including:

  1. How schools are planning to spend their discretionary funds within the six allowable program areas
  2. How the DOE is allocating targeted Contracts funds to schools
  3. How the DOE is allocating funds for district-wide Initiatives
  4. The Class Size Reduction plan
  5. The public comment process itself

Educators, parents, and all other members of the New York City community with feedback should:

  1. E-mail us at ContractsForExcellence@schools.nyc.gov
  2. Attend one of our five borough-wide hearings (details posted below)
